The efforts to clean up the radioactive wastes resulting from the Manhattan Project in the St. Louis area were the focus of an in-depth story, “Chain Reaction,” published in the St. Louis Review.

Jennifer Brinker explored the history and the current efforts and proposals under way to clean up the Coldwater Creek and West Lake Landfill sites. She and Lisa Johnston, photographer for the Review, met with four Franciscan Sisters of Mary who represent the Focus Implementation Group, as well as members of Just Moms STL and Mary Beth and Roger Chik, longtime residents of Spanish Village.

We are grateful to the Review staff for highlighting this issue!
