Whether you have known Catholic sisters personally as teachers or healthcare professionals, or have been inspired by their courage as they confront powerful leaders in the name of justice, or have been touched by their caring presence in times of distress, we invite you to Stand with Sisters!

This March, St. Louis Catholic Sisters launch their fourth annual awareness campaign, “Stand with Sisters,” in conjunction with Catholic Sisters Week (March 8–14 each year), a celebration created to honor women religious and bring greater awareness of their lives and works.

During March, member congregations share video, photos, and personal narratives from sisters and lay collaborators about why they are called to work for justice causes. As part of the campaign, Sr. Rose Dowling, FSM president from 2007 to 2015, and John O’Shaughnessy, CEO and CFO for the Franciscan Sisters of Mary, share how the congregation’s impact investing allows the sisters to collaborate with others to feed the hungry, mitigate climate change, and otherwise work for social and environmental justice.

Electronic billboards throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area will also share the sisters’ messages, including “We stand with immigrants” and “We stand against racism.” Find the video, statements, and more on our St. Louis Catholic Sisters website.

Catholic sisters are alive and well and serving St. Louisans. Women religious continue to play vital roles in the history and development of our nation, our local community, and our society. They have not only taught in schools and ministered in hospitals, they have founded, funded, and run those institutions. And they continue to show their devotion to God through their willingness to minister to all, even “the least of these.”

The “Stand with Sisters” campaign was designed by the Communicators for St. Louis Catholic Sisters, a group of communications professionals who represent the following congregations of women religious: Adorers of the Blood of Christ, Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent DePaul, Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, Franciscan Sisters of Mary, Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, School Sisters of Notre Dame, Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Sisters of Loretto, Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Sisters of the Good Shepherd, Sisters of the Most Precious Blood of O’Fallon, Society of the Sacred Heart, and Ursuline Sisters of the Central Province.
